The Beginning of Rebellion
and The Fall of Man
The controversy that has its origin many eons ago in the space of time between the two opposing forces of good and evil is to reach its climax. The soon occupants of planet earth are the primary focus of these two assailants.
The two combatants have their supporters. The mightiest angel of all of God's angelic beings who was the Supreme Commander of the angelic host allowed a tiny seed of rebellion to incubate within a corner of his soul, the seed of pride. "Thou was perfect from the day thou was created until iniquity was found in thee." Ezekiel 28:15
Bible scholars, theologians and pastors present doctrines and theories that do not address the finality of the controversy. It is the ultimate objective of this program to present truth from the Word. "Sanctify them with thy word. Thy Word is Truth. John 17:17
The human race was drawn into this conflict by reason of one man's disobedience. God had created man after His own image. Man was perfect who had no knowledge of the consequences of evil. There was placed within man's first home in God's Garden Paradise which was the Garden of Eden in its midst a test of his loyalty. " And the Lord God commanded the man saying of every tree in the garden thou mayest freely eat. But of the tree of knowledge of Good and Evil thou shall not eat of it, for in the day thou eatest of it thou shall surely die." Genesis 2:16, 17.
It must be brought to one's attention in the epic narrative of the fall of man in the Paradise Garden there will be discovered the very center of the human psyche—the self.
Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made, and he said unto the woman, yea hath God said ye shall not eat of every tree in the garden.
The downfall of the human race began with nature. The tree that was in the garden now became the habitation of Lucifer. The serpent, which had occupied the tree as its safe haven, was now possessed. The serpent's ability to use its intellect was far superior to any of God's creation within the animal world. Satan's presence within the serpent had now contaminated the tree and all of its contents. It had become soiled.
As the serpent was now possessed by Satan it has become a medium of communication, "and the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the trees in the garden but the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden God hath said 'Ye shall not eat of it lest ye die.' "
Satan would now seize the opportunity to cast doubt in the consciousness of the woman. A primary weapon in Satan's conflict with the human soul is the weapon of doubt. The woman had been instructed y Adam of the admonition by God that forbade any interaction with the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, and the consequences for disobedience.
"And the serpent said to the woman 'ye shall not surely die'. Satan continues the dialogue by approaching the very center of his spiritual demise, the status of his own self- appointed divine concept "For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof your eyes will be opened and ye shall be as gods knowing good and evil."
It was Satan's challenge to God's supremacy and authority that led to his demise as he exclaimed "I am a God, and sit in the seat of God." Ezekiel 28:2. The woman now paused and gave thought to the wiles of Satan. The first pair were not restrained though. It was Satan's contention that God was unjust and that obedience to his precepts placed a restraint on God's created beings.
The fall of man was now complete. The admonition of her husband, Adam, and the certain consequences for disobedience no longer occupied her conscience. They were replaced by the dazzling charm of the talking creature and the gratifying attractions of the forbidden tree. There was no doubt a seed of rebellion that began to sprout within the mind of the woman. Why would God deprive them of the wisdom that the contents of this tree possessed?
Eve partook of the fruit and with it she lost her innocence. She then proceeded to give of the forbidden fruit to Adam which he did eat. Adam has relinquished his dominion that Gad has given him. The human race is now thrust into a spiritual conflict between Christ and Satan. God has now cursed the serpent with the following. "And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, between thy seed and her seed and it shall bruise thy head but thou shall bruise his heel." Genesis 3:15
With these words the promise of a Redeemer has been announced to the fallen pair. The woman is the symbol of the Church. Christ who is the Redeemer is also the Head of the Church. It would be the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ that would restore the human race.
